Dehumidifier running cost calculator UK

Estimate a session and a month of electricity using your own tariff and runtime.

Our answer

Electricity cost is power in kilowatts × time in hours × your price per kWh. Use measured session energy when available: a dehumidifier’s maximum or rated watts can differ from its actual use. The calculator estimates electricity only, excluding purchase cost and other appliances.

Your running-cost estimate

Enter your appliance and electricity details

Example: 1.242 kWh and £0.33 per session; £9.81 for 30 sessions.

207 W × 6 hours at 26.32p/kWh, continuously active.

The default 26.32p/kWh is Ofgem’s GB Direct Debit standard-variable average for 1 October–31 December 2026. It is a dated example, not your tariff or a fixed appliance price. Check your bill and edit it.

Choose a sensible power figure

Meaco publishes 136 W for the Arete Two 12L and 207 W for the 20L at 20°C/60% RH. The DD8L Pro’s medium setting is 437 W at those conditions. These are model-and-condition examples. A maximum rating, an adaptor’s output or an unexplained “kWh” claim is not the same kind of operating measurement.

What the active-share input means

At 100%, the estimate assumes the entered watts for the entire session. A lower percentage is an approximation for cycling; it treats the remaining time as zero consumption. Real machines may use fan, sampling or standby power during that remainder. For a useful actual result, measure the complete session with a suitable mains energy meter.

Monthly cost is a schedule, not a prediction

The default is 30 sessions per month. Changing the number does not make the calculator predict drying speed or seasonal humidity. Laundry loads, room temperature, ventilation, target RH and heating can change actual runtime. Add separate heating or fan energy if comparing complete drying arrangements.

Compare a completed outcome

A six-hour estimate is not automatically the cost of a dry load. Use the heat-pump dryer comparison to see how programme kWh and an appliance-running scenario differ. For choosing a machine, start with the laundry shortlist.
