Why your dehumidifier is not collecting water
Work through normal operating reasons before assuming the appliance has failed.

Our answer
A tank can stay empty when the target humidity has been reached, the machine is in fan-only mode, a compressor is defrosting or the room is too cool or dry for meaningful extraction. A connected hose can also mean the water is collecting somewhere else. Check mode, temperature and setup first.
The useful troubleshooting order
- Check the plug, display and any fault message. If there is electrical damage, overheating or a burning smell, stop use and contact support.
- Check the actual room temperature against the operating range in the exact manual.
- Check mode: air purification is not active dehumidification. A target above the room RH may correctly stop extraction.
- Check the tank is seated and the float is in place. Do not bypass the switch.
- Check whether a drainage hose is fitted and whether the water is leaving through it.
- Clean the dust filter and remove airflow obstructions, after safely stopping and disconnecting the machine.
- Allow for the manufacturer’s sampling, start-up delay or defrost behaviour before deciding there is a persistent fault.
Cold rooms and headline capacities
The Arete Two 12L is quoted at 5.40 L/day at 20°C/60% RH but 1.97 L/day at 10°C/60%. Those are different conditions, not a fault. Daily output falls further as the room dries. A model allowed to operate at 5°C does not necessarily remove water quickly at that temperature.
A short check you can document
Record the model, room temperature/RH, target, mode, time and any code. Run it according to its instructions while you are present and observe whether active dehumidification occurs. Do not create an artificial high-humidity test by putting it near a running shower or exposing an electrical appliance to water.
When to contact the manufacturer
If the room is within range and above the target, the mode is correct and the machine repeatedly fails to operate normally after basic checks, contact the manufacturer with your notes, serial number and receipt. A persistent error code needs its own support procedure. Do not open the casing or attempt a refrigerant repair.
