Meaco DD8L Pro review: a research-based assessment

An app-connected desiccant assessed around cool-room output, modes and ownership requirements.

Our answer

The DD8L Pro is worth comparing for a genuinely cool indoor space when extraction matters more than minimum active power. Its published mode-by-mode table and connected controls are useful. It is not our default for a heated bedroom: fan noise, heater demand and a required shutdown cooldown are meaningful compromises.

Its mode-specific figures

At 20°C / 60% RHExtractionPower
Low fan2.12 L/day231 W
Medium fan5.40 L/day437 W
High fan7.97 L/day623 W
At 10°C / 60% RHExtractionPower
Low fan2.30 L/day232 W
Medium fan5.23 L/day443 W
High fan6.89 L/day630 W

Size, tank and controls

Meaco quotes a 2 L tank, 8.7 kg body and H577 × W356 × D230 mm dimensions. Fan noise is 40/47/50 dB(A), with 110/150/175 m³/h airflow. App control, an LCD, timer features and a louvre distinguish it from simpler desiccants. The stated warranty is three years, subject to terms; castors are an optional accessory.

Why the evidence helps

The low, medium and high figures prevent a misleading comparison of low-mode power with maximum extraction. They also show that “8L” does not mean it removes eight litres on every mode. At 10°C/60%, high-mode output remains useful, but it uses substantially more power than the Arete Two 20L’s 176 W at that condition.

The power trade-off

Six hours at the stated 20°C medium-mode 437 W would use 2.622 kWh, about 69.0p at the dated 26.32p/kWh example. High mode at 623 W for that time would use 3.738 kWh, about 98.4p. Those constant-power scenarios are not completed-load prices. Use the calculator with your own tariff and measured use.

Ownership details worth knowing

The exact manual says the cable tidy must be fitted for the machine to operate. Its cooling-down display must finish before unplugging. Using an external smart plug to cut power bypasses that routine and is not the way to schedule it. Read the complete manual before choosing a drain or location.

Who should compare another model?

For a heated flat, compare a compressor first. For a lightweight desiccant without connected features, compare the DD1 Simple MK3. The DD128 has a slightly larger tank and lighter body, but its noise and dimension documentation need care. See the direct DD8L Pro/DD128 comparison.

Our assessment

A well-documented option for a cool-room priority and users who value the connected controls. We would not buy it solely for app access or expect low-mode wattage alongside maximum extraction. This is a research-based review without our own laundry, sound or longevity test.
