Our answer
The DD8L Pro is the more flexible research choice for digital humidity settings, app control and mode-by-mode data. The DD128 is lighter and has a slightly larger tank. Their high-mode headline output is close at 20°C/60% RH, so we would choose on practical features and current price rather than promise a drying-speed winner.

What the extraction figures mean
Both headline maximum values are given at 20°C/60% RH. The difference between 7.97 and 8.00 litres/day is too small to support a household drying-time claim, particularly across different manufacturers. Meaco’s full mode table is more useful: its low setting is quoted at 2.12 L/day and 231 W, not 8 L/day at low power.
Meaco also supplies 10°C/60% RH results: 2.30, 5.23 and 6.89 L/day, using 232, 443 and 630 W. EcoAir does not provide equivalent per-mode cold-room output in the sources inspected. We cannot fill that gap by assuming a desiccant maintains exactly the same rate at every temperature.
Controls versus portability
The DD8L Pro is the stronger choice if a visible target, app access and adjustable scheduling would be useful. The DD128 has electronic functions too, but its lighter 6.1 kg body is a practical advantage if the machine is moved often. Neither tank is large enough to ignore during high-output laundry use. Tank capacity matters because a full tank interrupts extraction.
Castors for the DD8L Pro are optional. Fit its supplied cable tidy as instructed; the manual says the machine will not operate without it. Account for the complete position and tank access rather than judge the room fit from a photograph.
Running-cost scenarios
At 26.32p/kWh, six hours at 623 W costs about 98.4p. The DD8L Pro’s low-power 231 W scenario is 36.5p; the DD128’s 331 W low-mode scenario is 52.3p. Those figures cannot establish low-mode efficiency because equivalent low-mode extraction is missing for the DD128. A lower hourly cost is not necessarily a lower cost to finish a given load.
Resolving the DD128 specification problems
The current product table labels dimensions in an order that conflicts with the official product-linked legacy manual. We use the manual’s W320 × H476 × D212 mm, clearly identifying that source. The current description and noise table also disagree about the high noise value. We present both rather than choose the quieter one, and we do not rank it above the Meaco for sound.
Use and shut-down
EcoAir’s current support manual specifies 40 cm clearance, prohibits unattended laundry mode and requires at least five minutes to cool after switch-off before unplugging. The Meaco manual requires its displayed cooldown to finish before disconnection. Use their own power buttons and avoid external devices that abruptly interrupt a desiccant’s cooling cycle.
Which would we shortlist?
Choose the DD8L Pro for controllability and a better documented cold-room comparison. Choose the DD128 if a lighter body, simpler routine and favourable current price matter more. If the room is normally heated, compare a compressor option before choosing either desiccant.
