How to dry towels and bedding with a dehumidifier
Give thick fabrics air space and judge dryness in the folds, not just on the outside.

Our answer
Use the highest spin speed the fabric care label permits, spread towels and bedding with gaps, and direct unobstructed airflow around the rack. Turn or rehang bulky items during a supervised session. Finish according to actual dryness rather than a promised universal number of hours.
Before you turn on the appliance
- Check the care label for spin, drying and tumble-drying limits.
- Remove as much water in the wash spin as the fabric permits.
- Shake out towels and spread sheets across more than one rack bar where possible.
- Separate layers and keep fabric from touching the floor or hanging over the appliance.
- Make sure the machine, rack and cable still have safe circulation space.
During the session
Use the appropriate laundry setting in the exact manual. Reposition towels and sheets if one side remains shaded from airflow. Remove dry items so wetter fabric has more space. Keep the tank from filling unnoticed during a long session, or set up compatible drainage and check it. Follow the manufacturer’s supervised-use and cooldown requirements.
How to judge the end point
Check seams, folds, corners and the centre of thicker items; a dry outside can conceal a damp interior. Allow fabric to cool before final assessment if warmth makes it feel misleadingly dry. For repeated home comparisons, record the same load’s wet starting mass and a consistent dryness endpoint. Do not put insufficiently dry fabric straight into an enclosed cupboard.
Why there is no fixed drying time
Residual water after spinning, fabric weight, rack spacing, room temperature, air circulation and humidity all affect progress. An advertised litres/day capacity does not convert directly into “two hours for bedding”. We have no matched household test supporting that kind of promise.
When a dryer may be a better workflow
If repeated towels and bedding tie up most of a small room, consider a suitable heat-pump dryer and check fabric compatibility. The dryer comparison uses an exact programme fiche and explains why a short dehumidifier scenario is not equivalent to a complete dryer load.
