Our answer
The DD128 is worth comparing for a cool suitable indoor room if you prefer a lighter body and straightforward controls. Its 8 L/day specification is at 20°C/60% RH. We cannot establish a mode-matched efficiency advantage over the DD8L Pro, and its published noise figures conflict.
Specifications and their limits
| Item | Published evidence |
|---|---|
| Extraction | 8 L/day at 20°C/60% RH. |
| Power settings | 331 W low / 623 W high; low-mode extraction not paired in the inspected table. |
| Tank / weight | 2.2 L / 6.1 kg. |
| Dimensions H × W × D | 476 × 320 × 212 mm in the official legacy manual. |
| Noise | Product table 39/46 dB(A); product description 39–49 dB(A). |
| Stated warranty | 3 years, subject to terms. |
Why the dimension source matters
The current product page lists the three dimension numbers in an inconsistent order. The manufacturer’s older C379 manual labels width 320 mm, height 476 mm and depth 212 mm explicitly. We use that to explain the ordering, while the newer support manual controls operating advice. Check the currently supplied unit’s dimensions with EcoAir before a tight-space purchase.
Potential strengths
At a stated 6.1 kg, it is lighter than the 8.7 kg DD8L Pro. The 2.2 L tank is slightly larger than that Meaco’s 2 L tank. It may suit users who want direct appliance controls rather than app functions. These are useful features, not proof of faster drying or better build quality.
What we cannot conclude
The page does not give a matched low-setting litres/day figure for the stated 331 W. Comparing those watts with an 8 L maximum would exaggerate efficiency. Nor do conflicting noise ranges support a confident bedroom winner. We have not independently measured either model’s output or sound.
Installation and shutdown
The current EcoAir support manual requires 40 cm clearance and at least 40 cm between the appliance and laundry. Laundry operation must not be unattended, and the shutdown instructions require at least five minutes of cooling before unplugging. The smaller body does not eliminate the installation space.
Electricity example
Six hours continuously at 331 W would use 1.986 kWh, around 52.3p at the dated 26.32p/kWh example. At 623 W, the same duration is 3.738 kWh and 98.4p. These illustrate the settings’ demand; they do not show how much laundry each setting finishes.
Our assessment
Compare it for portability and a cool-room routine, after confirming the current documentation and complete clearance space. Choose the DD8L Pro if its app/timer features and more detailed mode evidence justify its weight and price. The comparison develops that choice without inventing a performance winner.
