Our answer
The DD1 Simple MK3 is worth shortlisting if you want direct controls, a light body and no app requirement in a suitable cool indoor space. EcoAir quotes 7.5 L/day at 20°C/60% RH. The higher-power heater modes and clearance/supervision rules matter more than the compact casing alone.
Key specifications
| Item | Manufacturer figure |
|---|---|
| Extraction | 7.5 L/day at 20°C/60% RH. |
| Power settings | 300 W low / 580 W high. |
| Tank / weight | 2 L / 6 kg. |
| Dimensions H × W × D | 475 × 290 × 175 mm. |
| Noise, low / high | 34 / 47 dB(A). |
| Temperature range | 1–35°C stated; exact operating instructions still apply. |
| Stated warranty | 3 years, subject to terms. |
Why it is in the shortlist
The 6 kg body and direct controls may suit someone who wants to move the unit between suitable indoor locations without managing an app. Its listed low fan noise is 34 dB(A), but cross-brand test methods are not established as equivalent. We do not call it quieter in a real bedroom without a matched acoustic test.
Power and extraction need the same mode
The inspected page quotes 300 W and 580 W settings alongside a maximum 7.5 L/day figure. It does not pair 7.5 L/day with the low-power setting. A calculation that divides maximum extraction by minimum power would give an unjustified efficiency claim.
Installation space and supervision
The current EcoAir manual specifies 40 cm clearance and separation from laundry. Its laundry instructions prohibit unattended operation. Allow at least five minutes of cooling after switch-off before unplugging. Check the exact unit’s manual rather than assuming a compact body permits an enclosed cupboard or overnight laundry session.
An electricity illustration
Six continuously active hours at 300 W use 1.8 kWh, around 47.4p at the dated 26.32p/kWh tariff. At 580 W, that becomes 3.48 kWh and 91.6p. The difference illustrates mode demand, without proving a mode’s energy per completed load. Enter your own figures in the calculator.
When to compare another option
For app control and detailed mode-specific extraction, compare the DD8L Pro. For a normally heated room, compare a compressor such as the Arete Two 12L before paying for desiccant heater demand. The desiccant shortlist covers the choice alongside DD128.
Our assessment
A useful lightweight, straightforward option to investigate for cool-room use. Confirm installation space, operating instructions and current support terms. This review is based on manufacturer data and manuals, without our own laundry, sound or reliability test.
